Ceressa Allen teaches several classes at EOSC. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and a Certificate in Holistic Health from San Francisco State University, as well as an A.A. in Liberal Arts and an A.S. in Human Biology. A social and cultural strategist, wellness consultant, health educator, dancer/choreographer/instructor; a multi-ethnic bay area Californian native, Ceressa has more than 22 years of experience in dance and gymnastics art. “My overall goal is to combine all aspects of my education and experience to create an innovative new model of social change through the integration of dance, music, and social equity; to optimize the well-being of those who are most marginalized in society and to serve as a primary violence prevention program.”
Winifred Cabiness teaches Pilates, Cardio/Sculpt, and Silver Sneakers classes. She has taught since 2005 at the YMCA on both sides of the bay, Crunch fitness, Bally’s, Genentech and Kaiser Permanente corporate gyms, InShape, Fitness Evolution and UC Berkeley. She has also volunteered by teaching yoga to teens at Girl’s Inc. Driven by her desire to reverse the effects of stress, anxiety, stiff muscles, joint aches and pains, sciatica, and increasing weight gain, Ms. Cabiness re-created herself through a program of fitness and wellness which developed into a career as a Pilates Instructor. “I love to teach!”
Richard Everett teaches several classes at EOSC. Richard has a Bachelor of Science Degree biochemistry and molecular biology form UC Santa Cruz. He is a black belt in the traditional Korean Martial Art of Ho Kuk Mu Sul, a red belt in the traditional Cambodian Martial Art of Shando and purple belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. He has competed at the black belt level in local Tae Kwon Do sparring tournaments, competed in amateur kickboxing matches and competes regularly at the purple belt level in local to IBJJF sanctioned tournaments; additionally, Richard has interned as an assistant instructor for children and adults in both kickboxing and Brazilian Jujitsu.
Gregory Flenoy is a Recreation Specialist, fitness mentor, certified personal trainer, and yoga instructor at EOSC. His teaching philosophies are functional exercises in boot camp, walking cane defense, and self-defense classes with a blend of martial arts. In the fitness room he teaches a vast number of marital arts like capoeira, as taught to him by Master Johnny Moore in Oakland, CA. “I believe in teaching our members how to work out safely and be creative with their fitness for the rest of their life.”
Irma Hernandez teaches several classes at EOSC. All her classes are completely bilingual in English and Spanish. Irma has been a certified fitness instructor since 1992. She holds certificates in Aerobics, Step, and CPR as well as license’s in Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Kids, and Zumba Kids Jr. She owned and managed her own gym in Mexico City dubbed “Aerobics’ Irmy’s”, has worked with the Native American Wellness Center for nine years and volunteers at a local senior center giving dance lessons. “I have been working at EOSC since it opened and has enjoyed every bit!”
Linda Johnson teaches several classes at EOSC. Ms. Johnson has been teaching dance styles of the Diaspora for over 30 years and currently teaches the following dance styles: Modern, Jazz, Afro-Cardio Zumba, Soul Line Dance, Haitian, Candidate for Certification of the Katherine Dunham technique, Salsa, and Dance Production. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance/Physical Education from San Francisco State and a Master’s Degree in Dance Ethnology from University of California, Los Angeles. She is a former Chairperson and dance instructor for Laney College, San Francisco State University and various dance studios in the Bay Area. Ms. Johnson has studied dance and performed with many renowned dance instructors and choreographers, including Nontsizi Cayou, Albirda Rose, Blanche Brown, Jeon Leon Destine, Pearl Reynolds Pearl Primus and Lavinia Williams.
Sierra Moore teaches yoga at EOSC. Sierra has been practicing yoga for almost 20 years and has completed a 200 hour hatha yoga training and is currently in the middle of a 800 hour Yoga Therapy training. “If you are facing health challenges, personalized yoga classes can help you manage your condition, reduce your symptoms and improve quality of life.”
Jennifer Reeves is a personal trainer at EOSC. Ms. Reeves has been a Fitness Professional for the past 15 years. She is a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Group Exercise Instructor, and teaches several types of classes; aqua, cardio ball, spin, abs, kickboxing and circuit training. She is currently in school studying Pre-Physical therapy. She has trained with some of the NFL’s top athletes as well as people with disabilities and rehabilitation problems; and she continues to train as an athletic trainer for four semi-professional basketball teams here in the bay area. While interning at PEPA Sports (Performance Enhancement for Professional Athletes) she learned how to accommodate sports injuries and sculpt and mold a body while taking care to utilize all three aspects of physical fitness: strength, cardiovascular and flexibility training. “Perseverance and dedication are my mottos. Let’s rise above all of your challenges and get healthy together. I look forward to working with you!!”
Tony Sirivongsa is a personal trainer and class facilitator at EOSC. Tony is certified in personal training, Olympic weightlifting, and as a recreational tennis coach. Tony received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in pre-athletic training at CSU East Bay. He gained experience as a student assistant trainer with the CSU East Bay Pioneer Athletic Teams and continues to expand his knowledge through internships with the Oakland Raiders Football Organization Strength and Conditioning Program and Holy Names University Men’s Basketball team. Tony is currently working with multiple recreation centers as the coordinator of NFL Flag Football and Jr. Warriors Basketball Camps. He has also worked with OPR Junior Giants Tee-Ball/Baseball program.
Tricia Tangeman is a health and wellness coach and a yoga instructor at EOSC. Ms. Tangeman holds a BA from the University of Southern California and an MA in Cultural History from the BGC in New York; she is an E-RYT 500 yoga instructor and yoga therapist. Her approach for health and well-being is to look at the total person and help them to find balance in mind, body, and spirit. Tricia believes in the essential expression of the self through movement. When she was introduced to yoga over 25 years ago, she found the means to unify the body and mind through this grounding practice. Tricia has experienced the healing benefits of yoga in her personal practice and found yoga essential to her daily well-being. Off the mat Tricia is a busy mother to an eight year old and new baby – who keep her a constant witness to the world as wonder and foster her sense of humor.
Michael Tatmon Jr. is a Certified Personal Trainer who specializes in Spin, youth sports, weight training, and fitness training. He has been involved in sports and fitness for over 20 years and holds degree in Liberal Studies at Chabot College and a degree in Criminal Justice at Benedictine College.
Carlos Vargas is a personal trainer at EOSC. He looks forward to helping you reach your fitness goals. Tony graduated from CSU East Bay with a BS in Kinesiology. He has a black belt in Taekwondo from the World Taekwondo Federation and is a certified spinning instructor and personal trainer.
